Vintage 2022

Lithe and sublimely structured. 95 Points. Comes from two blocks planted in 1929 and 1949 in the pocket of the Barossa. It is a lithe and sublimely structured, medium bodied grenache capturing all the bright strawberry, rose petal lifted dried sage and rosemary of the variety. It’s a wine for current drinking but has all you need for further cellaring. I would be tucking into this one now. Ray Jordan's Top 100 Reds 2023, 31 Jul 2023.

In 2022, the two blocks were wild fermented separately - the first 31% whole bunch, the second 20% whole bunch fruit, resulting in this outstanding expression of Vine Vale Grenache. Bright ruby purple in colour. Pretty red cherries and blue berry fruits with the subtle scent of red grapefruit are intriguingly combined with suggestions of savoury herbs and spices. The palate is plush, juicy and succulent. Red and blue fruits are entwined in mocha flavours with bright acidity and fine, powdery tannins.

    My favourite Aussie Grenache. Not as well known as some of the more famous McLaren Vale examples of this variety. But better value for money in my opinion.
