Vintage 2019
Water Wheel Bendigo Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful red wine with rich aromas of dark berries backed by hints of mint. The wine enjoys a full-bodied palate with interesting blueberry and blackberry flavours, along with subtle hints of minty oak. It exhibits good balance and texture, and enjoys a long finish. Rich tomato sauce based pastas, simple meatballs, barbeques and braised short ribs would go amazingly well with this wine.
Review: Plunged twice a day, left on skins for 20 days, matured in French oak (20% new barriques). Interesting choice of grape for a nouveau drink-early style of red wine, with cabernet's notable tannins coming into play and reducing the juicy, plumminess you might otherwise expect. Highly fragrant aromas of violets, rose and wild berries. The prettiness of the bouquet gives way to savoury on the palate; earth, dried herbs and some imposing cabernet tannins.
