Vintage 2022
5 Star Rated Winery James Halliday
This delicious and intense Shriaz from McLaren Vale is a true representative of the Penny's Hill terroir. 'Cracking Black' pays homage to the Bay of Biscay soils which contribute to the generosity and richness of the wine region. A bold red, with deep dark fruit flavours, paired with hints of liquorice, pepper and truffle. An incredible wine for under $20.
"The wine spent fifteen months in French oak barrels before selection for the final blend. The colour here is a near black/purple. The wine is dense, concentrated and powerful. Those who enjoy big and bold McLaren Vale Shiraz will be excited by this wine. More savoury than plushly fruited, there are notes of graphite, black fruits, aniseed, soy and truffles. A wine with impressive length and fine tannins, which will drink well for at least the next ten to twelve years. A cracking Shiraz indeed! And cracking value." - Ken Gargett, The Wine Pilot (94 Points)
