Astrolabe was the name winemaker Simon Waghorn gave his new venture because of its historical links with the Marlborough region and the connotations of exploration and adventure. Their Pinot Gris is a fine aromatic wine focused on minerality and structure rather than overt fruit opulence. This has resulted in classic styled Gris with stone fruit and pears on the palate balanced with fine acidity.

    A very smooth and fruity, and remarkably dry'ish wine. One of our top Kiwi favorites now, and good value.

    wrong wine!

    I received Astrolabe Sauv Blac (2 doz) rather than the Pinot Gris I ordered. A very kind man from OurCellar picked up this mistake within hours of my delivery and offered to take order back and provide wine as ordered. I don't mind the Sauv Blanc and so I've kept it. The previously noted nice man offered a discount on my next order so I'll look forward to that .. thanks! Sue

    Their Pinot Gris is dry with the right balance of spices and fruit. Very tangy, long and smooth. It is a fine wine, easy to drink and excellent value for money.

    Astrolabe does it again

    Discovered Astrolabe wines on a trip to NZ a couple of years ago and so glad I did. Their Pinto Gris is excellent value for money. Very palatable, easy to drink and best of all doesn't attach my sinus' or give me a headache like a lot of NZ wines do.
